CALHOUN STUDENT HONORED BY WV WRITERS

A Calhoun youth Benjamin Wagoner has won 4th place and 1st honorable mention in the Student Voices competition in the elementary school category for his story, "Super Sam: A Play."

Wagoner received the awards at the WV Writer's Competition at Cedar Lakes in Ripley.

Teresa Newsome, director of the WV Writer's Competition, said that over 1100 entries were submitted to the competition from 15 states and 45 of WV's counties.

Benjamin will be starting 6th grade in the fall. He is the son of Kevin and Stephanie Wagoner of Big Springs, grandson of Lenard and Barbra Wilson of Big Bend.
