(06/02/2012)
WAYNE HOME INVASION - A Wayne County man is dead and his seven-year-old son is reportedly a witness to the crime.

James Spurlock, 46, was allegedly visited by two mystery men on four-wheelers, a visit that ended in his murder.

Spurlock was shot numerous times during the home invasion.

Police have released few details about the murder.

WOMAN HIRES WRONG HITMAN - Police say Gigi Lynn Hinchcliffe's plan to have a man in Teays Valley shot and killed backfired, the hitman pulling out of the deal and calling police.

Police allege Hinchcliffe called an out-of-state friend and hired him to kill a man who owed her $700, according to Sheriff Mark Smith.

The complaint also says Hinchcliffe made calls to the alleged gunman telling him where the man worked and where he could shoot and kill him.

The man she wanted to hire went to the FBI and they contacted Putnam County Sheriff Mark Smith saying they had to act fast.

"If the guy that she contacted, contacted us and he's not getting the job done as quickly as she wanted it done, then she may to go to someone else. And that guy just may do it," said Smith.

The woman is in jail.
