WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - SWAT Team Surrounds St. Albans House

SWAT TEAM INTERVENES - A SWAT team surrounded a St. Albans home Wednesday night after a man allegedly barricaded himself inside. Police say they believe he had a weapon.

Kanawha Deputies were still at the scene around 11:15 p.m. and Main Street west in St. Albans had been shut down.

Police believe the incident to started as a domestic disturbance between brothers, according to Lt. Bryan Robbins.

Police were unsure if one of the brothers who they believed had a gun was still inside the home.

ELKINS DISTURBANCE - The West Virginia State Police have arrested a Mill Creek man. Matthew Currence, 39, was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment, according to a criminal complaint.

Currence's wife, Maryann Currence, arrived at the State Police Elkins Detachment to report that her husband threatened her with a firearm, according to the criminal complaint.

Maryann told State Police that her husband woke her in the early hours of the morning and said an argument started.

According to the complaint, Maryann said her husband grabbed her arms and pushed her into a corner with a firearm in his hands. She said that Matthew then put the firearm to her head, stating that he was going to kill her.

Matthew Currence has been released on bond.
