SPENCER 4TH GRADE TEACHER ALLEGEDLY ATTACKED BY STUDENTS

(05/25/2012)
Details are sketchy regarding a teacher at Spencer Elementary School that was reportedly allegedly attacked by students Thursday and taken to a Charleston emergency room.

West Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous said several students allegedly beat a fourth-grade teacher at Spencer Elementary.

Baylous told media Thursday afternoon that troopers at the State Police detachment in Spencer were aware of the situation, but that no one had yet asked for an investigation into the incident.

The Charleston Gazette reported Thursday night that of the fourth-grade teachers listed on the county schools website, Ann Carper was the only one listed as a patient at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital in Charleston.

A hospital spokeswoman told media that Carper had been treated and released.

Spencer Elementary Principal David Boggs referred all questions to county school officials, who had not responded to media requests Thursday night.
