Denver H. Collins, 73, of Parkersburg

Denver H. Collins, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Wyngate.

He was born in Grantsville, W.Va., a son of the late William A. Collins, Sr. and Velma P. (Norman) Collins.

He was operations manager at Curry Transfer and attended St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. He was a United Air Force veteran having served from 1958 to 1962. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Parkersburg VFW and American Legion Post 15. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed NASCAR racing and sports in general.

He is survived by two daughters, Giesala Collins of Mechanicsburg, Pa. and Meika Eddy (Scott) of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; son, Kip Collins of Pittsburgh, Pa.; granddaughter, Melinda Danielle Eddy; brother, William A. Collins, Jr. of Bellehaven, N.C.; and three sisters, Susie Brooks of Cranton, N.C., Nyoka Mepzer of Indiana and Naomi Jean Frankfurt of Parkersburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda (Johnston) Collins in 1986.

Services will be Friday 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
