Local American Red Cross AmeriCorps volunteers Michelle Jones and Megan Healy, attended the AmeriCorps Mountain State Leaders Celebration this past Thursday, May 10 to commemorate the success of their major service project from the 2011-2012 AmeriCorps service year.
During the past year Jones and Healy, each two-year members of the AmeriCorps program, teamed up with Roane County AmeriCorps volunteer Stephanie Ludle (also of the American Red Cross) to assist with the 2011 Community Christmas Eve Dinner. The dinner was held in the St. Johns Methodist Church and was a huge success. Over 350 people were served, thanks to members from the church as well as volunteers from the American Red Cross. Jones and Healy would like to thank Stephanie Ludle from the Roane County American Red Cross for allowing them to join in with her yearly service project.
