Roane General Hospital Board member Richard "Dick" Bowlby has been
relieved of
battery charges brought against him by Spencer resident E. Don Yoak.
The charges
resulted from an alleged grabbing and shoving match which happened
during an
official board meeting of Roane General Hospital last September.
WVRC Radio said the men entered into pre trail motions a month ago,
which resulted
in the case being dismissed. Magistrate Denver Gandee, Jr. confirmed
the charges
have been dropped.
The incident sprung from a disagreement Yoak and a local group was
having with the
board. It centered on a management contract the local hospital had
with Charleston
Area Medical Center, which has since been canceled.
