GILMER ALCOHOL ESTABLISHMENTS GET STUNG - Underage Selling Causes Citations

At least five Gilmer County businesses that sell alcohol have been cited by state ABC agents. The sting happened during the West Virginia Folk Festival.

Cited for selling to individuals under the age of 21 were, Campus Pub, 33 Club, Go-Mart, Rich Oil and Mountaineer Mart.

Fines are levied against both the individuals and businesses who made the sale. The intent of the sale is not considered in the writing of citations.

Compliance checks are made by sending an individual not yet 21 into a business, where upon the clerk is required to check ID.
