TRUCK PANEL RECOMMENDS 120,000 LIMIT FOR COAL HAULERS - Other Haulers Will Retain Old Limits

(06/28/2002)
The official Truck Safety Panel has recommended weight limits be increased to 120,000 pounds for the state's coal trucks. The current high limit is 80,000 pounds on interstate roads and lesser on other state highways.

The increase will not affect other haulers, those limits remain the same.

The recommendation comes after months of hearings and meetings, some of which declared larger trucks to be safer.
