UPDATE: CLAY MURDER-SUICIDE WITNESSED BY GRANDCHILD

State Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide in the Bomont area of Clay County.

Police say that 49-year-old Frances Bishop was shot by her husband, 57-year-old Ervin Bishop, after a fight erupted.

Ervin Bishop, after killing his wife, turned the gun on himself.

The couple's eight-year-old granddaughter was in the home at the time of the incident and called her father who called 911.

Police said the child heard the shots and came out of a bedroom to discover the bodies, her grandmother was on the front porch.

The incident happened on Darnell Hollow Road in Bomont around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said there had been a pattern of domestic issues and that the couple had possibly separated or were in the process of divorcing.

Troopers also said there was alcohol inside the home.
