CALHOUN VOLUNTEER ASSISTS FLOOD VICTIMS

(04/02/2012)
Calhoun County American Red Cross volunteer Megan Healy recently traveled to the southern part of West Virginia to help out in areas that were affected by recent flooding.

While there, Healy helped to set up shelters for those affected by the floods. When asked about the conditions there, Healy replied, "Many people have had their entire lives washed away with the water. It was a sad sight to see and I was just happy to be able to lend a helping hand…I hope I was able to make a difference."

If you would like more information on how you, too, can help make a difference to someone affected by flooding or any other disaster by training to become a disaster services volunteer, please contact Michelle Jones and Megan Healy at (304)588-0717 or (304)485-7311.

You may also visit them at the Calhoun County Courthouse, located on Main Street, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. in room 106.
