Arnoldsburg Elementary students have been working very diligently with increasing student achievement by learning and reviewing grade level content standards and objectives. AES Heads Up! currently offers Math and Reading tutoring, Computer, and Recreation.

Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Hartshorn also teach a WESTEST skills group in both reading and math for 3rd and 4th grade students.

MHHS Outreach Coordinator, Barb McKown talks
with students about drug and alcohol prevention

The students also participated in drug and alcohol prevention seminars with Barb McKown, Minnie Hamilton Health System, Outreach Coordinator. She discussed how drugs and alcohol affect the body and provided students with more positive ways to deal with peer pressure. Each child was provided an activity booklet and a variety of prizes during each visit. The students all seemed to enjoy this informative learning experience.

The next Heads Up! session at AES will be April 16 - May 10. The classes are scheduled Monday - Thursday from 3:30 - 6:00. Math and Reading tutoring, recreation, and computer will continue to be offered.

A sign-up form will be sent home with each child during the first week of April.

Recreation and exercise is part of the Heads Up! program
