UPDATE: FLATWOODS SHONEYS CLOSED FOLLOWING HAZMAT SUBSTANCE APPEARING

11 PM MON. - The general manager of Shoney's is telling media the white powder that shot up into an employees face was not biologically harmful. Shoney's will be open Tuesday morning.

6:30 PM MON. - The Shoney's at Flatwoods, Braxton County has been shutdown due to a hazardous material situation.

First reports say a cashier was contaminated after handling a roll of pennies that had an unknown white substance.

The coin rolls are from a local bank, and are believed to have been in the restaurant for the last 2 days.

The worker was reportedly taken to a local hospital with breathing problems.

Around 70 people were evacuated from the restaurant as responders arrived on the scene.

A hazmat team is checking the substance before the restaurant can re-open.

The restaurant is shutdown. A test has to be done on the substance before it can reopen.
