ROANE, RITCHIE AMONG ELEVEN COUNTIES GETTING FLOOD ASSISTANCE

(03/19/2012)
Roane and Ritchie are among eleven West Virginia counties part of a federal disaster area declared by President Barack Obama.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin says the declaration covers Doddridge, Harrison, Lincoln, Marion, Mingo, Monongalia, Preston, Ritchie, Roane, Taylor and Wayne counties that were all impacted by storms February 29 - March 05, 2011.

"These federal funds will provide much needed relief for the victims of recent devastating storms," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin.

Flooding hit Marion County and a tornado moved through Wayne and Lincoln counties. FEMA has declared residents in those three counties eligible for individual assistance.

The other eight counties will receive public assistance, basically what state and local governments spent on clean-up and repairs.
