Freda K. Schoolcraft, 89 - Clover

Freda K. Schoolcraft, 89, of Clover, West Virginia, died at 5:51 a.m., Friday, March 16, 2012, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born November 1, 1922, at Walton, a daughter of the late George L. and Eula Noel Harper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Schoolcraft, Sr.

Mrs. Schoolcraft was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent many days helping her husband on their farm and other farms in and around the Clover community. Grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them and many other children she met while helping her husband and carrying the mail for 42 years on Roane County's rural routes. In addition to the "kids", she enjoyed crocheting, gardening and baking.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Sonny Truman of Spencer, Wanda and Scott Walden of Georgetown, TX, Karen and John Hedges of Morgantown, Terie and Keith McDuffie of West Columbia, SC, Jerie and Randell Truman of Charleston; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Brenda Schoolcraft, Jr. of Clover; sister, Ruby Coe of Walton; brother, Ray Harper of Falling Rock; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 19 at 11:00 a.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Daniel R. "Danny" Whited officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
