Robert E. Young, 75 - Spencer

Robert E. Young, 75, of Spencer, passed away at 1:43 pm, Thursday, March 8, 2012, in the CAMC-General Hospital, Charleston, after a sudden illness.

He was born January 4, 1937, in Richwood, a son of the late Robert D. and Rose Withrow Young. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster mother, Caroline Williams.

Robert was a retired employee of the Roane County Country Club. He was a Baptist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Madeline Hartley Young of Spencer; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Penny Young of Spencer; daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Steve Harper of Gandeeville; seven grandchildren, Jane Clarkson, Samantha Yeager, Steven Harper, James Harper, Robert E. Young, Michelle Tanner and Danielle Young; and 15 great grandchildren.

Robert has been cremated, according to his wishes. There will be no service.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
