A former Wirt County teacher-coach has been sentenced after she plead guilty to embezzlement charges.

Judge Robert Waters sentenced Christy Wilson, 39, to two weeks in jail and to be on three years probation with up to 300 hours of community service.

She was also ordered to make restitution of about $9,000 to the Wirt County Board of Education, although Wilson maintains she took $3,600 as treasurer of a Wirt County High School boosters organization.

Wilson told the court she suffers from bipolar disorder and is now on Social Security disability.

He was required to forfeit her retirement and officials will seek to revoke her teaching certificate.
