BRAXTON WOMAN STRIKES DEPUTY DURING CHASE

(02/20/2012)
A Braxton County woman has been arrested after she allegedly hit a deputy sheriff with her car during a police chase.

Police say they tried to pull over Stacie Stout for a routine traffic stop on Route 15 in Sutton, but she refused, hitting the leg of an officer while trying to get away.

The deputy fired his pistol, but Stout still wouldn't stop.

Stout lost control of her vehicle, causing it to flip over.

Stout is charged with fleeing in a vehicle while driving under the influence, DUI second offense, reckless driving and three counts of obstructing an officer. They say additional charges are pending.

The deputy was treated for minor injuries, and is expected to recover.

Stout was taken to a Charleston hospital for treatment of her injuries.
