BURNSVILLE DAM WATER LOWERED FOR DREDGE WORK

(02/11/2012)
The Burnsville Lake is being lowered 2 feet for dredging and maintenance on a boat launch ramp, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The work is expected to be completed by Feb. 17.

The Corps says a buildup of silt over the past two years has made it impossible to launch a boat while the lake was at winter recreation level.

Once the dredging is complete, the lake will be raised and reopened to boat traffic., according to the Corps.

The barricade at the top of the Burnsville Dam will be closed to limit traffic in the area and protect the public during the work.
