Betty L. Ellyson, 85 - Glenville

Betty L. Ellyson age 85 of Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 7:25 p.m., Saturday February 4, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness.

Born April 21, 1926 in Tanner, West Virginia, daughter of the late Tracy and Masie Kelley Lydick.

Betty was a retired teacher having taught in Braxton and Lewis counties. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and also a member of the Kanawha Drive Homemakers, West Virginia Retired Teachers Association, and the Red Hat Society. She loved flowers, gardening, her church, and was a huge football and basketball fan, especially West Virginia University and Glenville State College, but her biggest joy was her grandsons.

On July 23, 1949 she was united in marriage to George P. Ellyson who preceded her in death on March 16, 1993.

Surviving is 1 son, Stephen Ellyson and wife Donna of Glenville; 1 daughter, Kimbra Norman and husband Gary of Mt. Sidney, Virginia; 2 grandsons, Garrett Norman of Martinsburg, West Virginia and Nicholas Norman and wife Sandra of Murphysboro, Illinois; 1 brother, Gail Lydick of Belpre Ohio.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 1 sister, Crystalene Bailey.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8 with Rev. Mark James and Rev. Mike Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville West Virginia. Friends may call 5-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc.
