Commissioner Robert Lowe Jr. discussed a conversation he had with Bob Weaver, President of the Calhoun County Commission, concerning the Calhoun EMS's request to open a station in Wirt County.

Weaver told Lowe that the Calhoun County Commission was not on board with that and had not been approached by the EMS squad concerning the matter.

Lowe told Weaver that Josh Johnson, who represented the Calhoun EMS at the last Wirt County Commission meeting, said that they received about 25% of their funding from a special levy in Calhoun County.

Weaver said that was not correct information.

"The Calhoun County Commission was unaware of any negotiations concerning establishing an ambulance service elsewhere. No one has consulted about it with us," Weaver explained in a phone interview conducted on Jan. 3.

"We are totally in the dark about this," he added.

Based on Commissioner Lowe's discussion with Weaver, the Wirt Commissioners agreed to draft a letter to Josh Johnson stating that before the Wirt County Commission takes any further action on the issue that the Calhoun EMS should meet with the Calhoun Commissioners to discuss the matter.

President Lowe said he would draft the letter and in addition to sending a copy to Johnson at the Calhoun EMS, he would send a copy to Weaver at the Calhoun County Commission as well.
