Alice J. Richards, 89 - Big Bend

Alice J. Richards, 89, of Big Bend, Calhoun County, West Virginia, passed away January 1, 2012 at Minnie Hamilton Health System in Grantsville. She was born in Calhoun County, February 11, 1922 a daughter of the late John Paul Jones and Samantha Kerby. Surviving are her children, Patricia (Charles) Givens of Walker WV, Jimmy Lee Richards of Big Bend, Oral (Cathy) Richards of Annamoriah WV, Helen (Gerald) Sampson of Millstone WV, Kathy (Bill) Morris of Grantsville WV, Connie (Keith) Starcher of Ravenswood WV, Willard (Emma) Richards of Big Springs WV, and Pattie (Bruce) Wilson of Troy WV; a sister, Alma Lanham; and brother, Willard Jones; 24 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Willard Richards; two children, Raymond Richards and Anna Mae Richards; a daughter-in-law, Linda Ferrell Richards; a grandchild, O'lema Ann Richards Endicott; a sister, Mary Jones; and three brothers, Lee, Bruce and Harley Jones. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville, where friends may call from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of services. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery at Big Bend.
