Junior Brooks "Tippy" Groves, 92 - Stouts Mills

Junior Brooks "Tippy" Groves age 92 of Stouts Mills, West Virginia (Dusk Camp Community) departed this life at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his residence surrounded by family and friends following an extended illness.

Born June 15, 1919 in Gilmer County, son of the late Brook W. and Clara Howell Groves.

Tippy was a general construction worker, saw miller, and block hauler. He was a charter member of the Church of God of Prophecy at Sand Fork. Pastured churches in Stouts Mills, Clarksburg, and Elkins. Over the years he served the lord faithfully, along with his wife, son, and grandchildren. He was an avid gardener, practiced organic gardening, and played music.

On July 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Nellie Rowh Groves who preceded him in death on September 18, 2006.

Surviving are 1 son, Max Groves Sr. and wife Judy of Dusk Camp; 3 grandchildren, Bryan Groves and wife Travis of Dusk Camp, Karen N. Blankenship and husband Cliff of Dusk Camp, and Patricia J. Knicley and husband Kelvin of Dusk Camp; and 3 great grandchildren, James Blankenship, Cody Blankenship, and Chelsea Knicley.

Mr. Groves was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by 4 siblings, Paul, Arden, and Francis Groves, and Madeline Lee.

Funeral Services will be conducted at the Church of God of Prophecy Sand Fork, West Virginia at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 28, 2011 with Pastor Bill Koon and Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery on Dusk Camp Rd. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday evening at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family of Mr. Groves request donations to the Burnsville Hospice Care.
