UPDATE: FATHER SHOOTS SON IN GILMER DOMESTIC DISPUTE - Names Released, Charges Yet To Be Filed

(12/07/2011)
State Police are investigating a shooting at Troy, Gilmer County (Rt. 18), a shooting they say was the result of a domestic dispute between a father and son.

Police say 64-year old Rodney Adams shot and killed his 44-year old son James Adams.

No arrest has been made.

State Police are saying the Gilmer Co. prosecutor will present the case to a grand jury whether or not a crime was committed.

The body has been sent to the West Virginia State Medical Examiner's Office.

When the Gilmer County Sheriffs Department and State Police arrived to the scene following a 911 call at 10 a.m. Tuesday, they discovered the son dead of what appeared to be a single gunshot wound.

Gilmer County State Police Detachment Commander Sgt. Mark Yost, says this incident is being considered a homicide until proven otherwise.

The State Police Crime Lab was summoned to the scene.
