GSC PROFESSOR TO HOLD BOOK SIGNING

(12/02/2011)
Glenville, WV - Glenville State College Assistant Professor of English Melissa Gish, author of many children's books as well as skilled jeweler, will be having a book signing at the GSC Robert F. Kidd Library. The event will take place on Thursday, December 8th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

"When I was a college student, I had a hard time choosing a major because I loved writing and English, but I also loved animal science, ecology, geology, and art. I ended up going with English, but I am now fortunate enough to also 'work' in the other fields I liked in a very roundabout way. I write about animals and nature and collect stones and make art by turning the stones into jewelry. My career in English and my hobbies in natural science and arts have given me the best of all these worlds. I'm now very excited to share my animals and art with visitors to the RFK Library," said Gish.

A native of Minnesota, Gish received her MFA in Creative Writing from Minnesota State University Mankato. She also studied Assessment and Developmental Education at the University of Minnesota. She has previously taught in Minnesota and New Mexico. Gish began working at Glenville State College in the fall of 2010.

"The library staff has been wonderful, and I'm grateful to them for putting this event together," said Gish.

"The holidays are near, and we at the Robert F. Kidd Library know people are looking for the perfect gift for that special someone. Whether it is a good book or a beautiful necklace and pair of earrings, we will have a variety of these items for your gift shopping enjoyment," said GSC Library Director Gail Westbrook.

Light refreshments will be served at the event and free gift wrapping will be provided by library staff and friends. For more information, contact the GSC Robert F.
