WATER TO FLOW THROUGH $5.2 MILLION CALHOUN PROJECT - Longtime Effort Overcomes Hurdles

Public water could soon be flowing to parts of Calhoun with the 21-mile $5.2 million dollar project under construction for parts of Route 16 south of Arnoldsburg to Chloe, and areas between Millstone and the Russett area.

The project will bring public water to parts of Calhoun whose water supply has continually worsened with water wells playing out or unable to produce drinking water.

The beleaguered water project has labored through twenty years of study, financing issues, bid interference litigation, contentious hearings, investigations, but ending with a revitalized but underfunded PSD district.

Water will soon be available along Route 16 south of Arnoldsburg to the West Fork Park and east of Millstone along Route 33 to Sand Ridge and then through Rush Run Road to Russett, according to administrative assistant Norma Collins.

The anticipated date for water to be flowing is on or just after December 9, but some areas could receive water in late December.

All interested citizens should complete a new customer application for accounting purposes.

The applications will be delivered to all who previously signed agreements the week of December 5-9.

A $50 deposit will be required at the time of application for service.

This deposit is refundable for all customers who pay their account on time for 12 consecutive months.

Applications must be submitted before water will be turned on to the customer, says Collins.
