Dawn Renee Chadwell Ray, 45 - Normantown

Dawn Renee Chadwell Ray age 45 of Normantown West Virginia, departed this life at 12:30 a.m., Thursday November 24, 2011 at the Lock Haven Hospital, Lock Haven PA, following an unexpected illness.

She was born February 25, 1966 in Cleveland OH., daughter of Claudette Snead Chadwell of Normantown and the late James R. Chadwell.

Renee was a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1984. She was also a graduate of Glenville State College with a degree in Teacher Education (history and civics) and received her Masters Degree from West Virginia University. Renee was active in numerous activities but first and foremost her devotion and love was focused on her students at the Gilmer Co. High School. She held memberships or affiliated with, WVEA, Gear up, National Honor Society, Co-sponsor of the Gilmer Co. High School Student Council, Service Connection, 10th grade class sponsor, & member of the Lower Steer Run Baptist Church.

She loved her dog Ming, cat Layla, shopping, movies, getaway weekends with her husband, and getting her hair and nails done. Renee will be sadly missed by her husband, mother, brothers, sister, and her students.

She was married to Michael L. Ray on September 15, 2002 who survives at their Normantown home.

She is also survived by 1 sister, Sharon Phillips of TN; 3 brothers, Mose Allen Chadwell (wife Darlene), Donald Gene Chadwell (wife Patricia) all of Normantown, and Harold Chadwell of Jacksonville FL; 2 nephews, Ethan James Chadwell, and Donald Chadwell; 1 niece, Cayman Elizabeth Hill; 2 great nephews, Dakota and Cheyene Chadwell; in-laws, Denver and Linda Sementelli Ray; sister-in law, Angela Hill (husband Jed) all of Mill Hall PA; and her 11th and 12th grade history and civics students at Gilmer Co. High School.

Along with her father she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Chadwell, Elmer Chadwell, and Dallas Chadwell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday November 29, 2011 at the Gilmer County High School Gymnasium with Elder Mark Minney officiating. Burial will follow in the Boggs Cemetery Orton WV (Normantown Community). Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the high school gymnasium.
