Effie Gay Spence, 90 - Glenville

Effie Gay Spence age 90 of Kanawha St., Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 7:16 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston following an unexpected illness.

She was born in Gilmer County August 2, 1921 a daughter of the late French G. and Truma May O'Dell Goff.

On November 13, 1949 Effie was married to Gravely Spence who preceded her in death.

Effie was a homemaker. She loved sewing, gardening (both vegetable and flowers) and taking care of her yard. She was a Baptist by faith.

Surviving are 2 sons, Dewell G. Spence (wife Debbie) of Glenville and Delmas Spence (wife Nora) of Cox's Mills.

A brother and sister survive, Gilbert Goff of Silver Springs MD and Hilda Walton of Mt. Nebo WV. Several nieces and nephews survive.

Effie was preceded in death by one daughter Ethelene Spence; one sister Civie Pishner and one brother Delbert Goff.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Monday at the Mortuary.

Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville is assisting the family of Effie G. Spence with arrangements.
