Willard E. Meadows, 89 - Gandeeville

Willard E. Meadows, 89, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in the Huntington VA Medical Center.

He was born June 30, 1922, in Prince, Fayette County, a son of the late Andrew and Canary Ward Meadows. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by all of his seven siblings: two brothers, Emery and Robert, and five sisters Pearl Hodge, Virgie Fleshman, Alma Crowe, Kathryn Harrah, and Goldie Lilly.

He is survived by many nephews and nieces. Willard is also survived by many friends in Roane County including Vince and Mary Ann Klicka of Gandeeville.

Willard served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's. He was awarded a purple heart during WWII when he served with U.S. Army Air Corps. Willard was a coal miner who worked at Stanaford coal mine. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Spencer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Thomas Chacko as celebrant. Friends may call one hour preceding the Mass. A catered dinner will follow in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will be at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
