Norma J. Godfrey, 74 - Grantsville

Norma J. Godfrey, 74, of Grantsville, West Virginia, died October 26, 2011 at Miletree Nursing Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.

She was born July 27, 1937 in Grantsville, a daughter of the late Joshua Sewell and Minnie F. Bower Owens.

She graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1955 and retired from Calhoun County Bank after many years of service. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Christian and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Godfrey; son, Kenneth Todd Godfrey; brothers, Joshua Owens Jr. of Ravenswood WV, George Owens of Sunbury OH, Ronald (Ellen) and Charles (Donna) Owens of Parkersburg WV; sisters, Greta (Dewain) Richards and Joyce (Forest) Roberts of Grantsville, Carolyn (Gary) Preston of Belpre OH and Darlene (Larry) Roberts of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ottmer and Woodrow Owens; and two sisters, Vonda Wiedenhoft and Sharlene Sadler.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 29 at Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. Rev. Alfred Hickman will officiate. Interment will be in the Nobe Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
