WALMART EXPANDING HEALTH CARE SERVICES - Jackson General Opening Clinic In Ripley Store, WalMart Bank Coming Soon?

(10/22/2011)
Jackson County's WalMart will be offering medical services in their store starting in November, according to a press release.

The clinic at WalMart will be operated by Jackson General Hospital, and will provide "convenient and affordable care" for walk-in customers.

The clinic will provide services for busy people, "Especially after working hours or on weekends, and will treat common health ailments and offer routine services."

About 100 WalMart stores are now providing clinic care, with most stores already providing multiple health-care services such as prescription medication and vision care.

WalMart is still working on having their own bank, with much opposition from the U.S. banking industry.

The company has been twice denied takeovers of banks, but it has expanded its financial services drastically and silently through partnerships with Discover, GE Consumer Finance, MoneyGram International and SunTrust Banks.

WalMart now offers its customers discounted money transfers and check cashing services.

WalMart could make a major footprint on the nation's banking industry with its 8,500 stores, much like it put Main Street retailers out of business.

WalMart says their banking services would be readily available during evenings and weekends, defying banking hours routinely maintained by most of the banking industry.
