Grantsville is getting a new police chief.

Mayor Curt Garretson announced Monday that Andrew F. Walker will take over the duties on October 29th.

Walker graduated in 2001 from Ohio Police Officer Training Academy in Orrville, Ohio and was certified as a West Virginia police officer in Charleston in 2006.

He has nine years of law enforcement experience ranging from small town West Virginia to inner city Cleveland, Ohio.

Walker says he is excited to start working for the town in which his family makes their home.

He resides on Russett Road with his wife Anna and five month old son Logan.

"Andy is eager to get started as chief, bringing a wide variety of experience to the department, and I believe he will be a great asset to our community," said Mayor Garretson.
