MEDICARE RECIPIENTS - Open Enrollment Period For Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Early This Year

The open enrollment period for your Medicare Prescription Drug Plan is early this year. Starting October 15, 2011 to December 7, 2011. This is the only time most people can choose a different drug plan for 2012. Drug Plans for 2012 are available online to review beginning October 1, 2011. Medicare has a web site where you can enter your list of medications and see the plans that are best for you and cover your medications at the lowest cost. If you have a computer you can access the web site at www.medicare.gov under FINDING PLANS click on Compare Drug & Health Plans. You will need to have your medicare card and a list of your medications when you do the search. If you need some assistance in searching the plans you can call Calhoun County Committee on Aging and ask for Brenda Ackley "SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) Counselor." Call CCCOA at (304)354-7822 to make an appointment. Brenda is available Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. an appointment is needed.
