Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church & served Holy Communion. He reported being on the mend from his blood pressure problems.

Carol Lynn Hursell, wife of Don Hursell, passed away October 4 up in Ohio. She was just 52 years old. Don owns the family home of his ancestor Jim "Banty" Boggs on Beaver Dam.

Jim Carez brought his mother "Peggy" Cooper up to Creston to visit. She visited her former home and met the new owners John & Debbie Griffin. Those helping on the Griffin move included Steve Parsons, Shorty & Dalton Griffin, Sis, Cooter & J. P. Marks. Tom Marquis has been doing work on the house for the new owners.

Ira J. Lynch, Sr. was calling on Euell Russell at Miletree Center in Spencer. Charles Russell was also calling on Euell & Ray Gum.

Beelzebubba Brown was attending to business in Grantsville.

There was a special service at the old Ruble Log Church Sunday afternoon.

Charles White was elected the new trustee for the Creston Community Building.

Donnie Nutter, Charles White, Garry Anderson, Fred Bish & Ted Grim were among those who put the insulation in the attic of the Creston Community Building. Donnie is the man to get if one needs to install insulation as he is a pro. Then Chancy Shaw & Fred Bish moved and properly shaped the dirt that the DOH had placed at the corner of the building to deflect water away from the foundation.

Jim Bush, Freddie Bush & associates have been in Creston cutting hay.

The Wirt state road crew has been fixing imperfections in the surface of the roadway on Route 5. Someone left a state road roller on the Richardsonville road.

Ryan E. M. Cunningham noted that he sold out of Black Crow over two years ago and is no longer associated with that oil & gas company. The Creston News writer regrets the error of associating him with the firm.

A fellow was out the other day dreaming of fried squirrel, squirrel gravy, biscuits and sweet potatoes when he saw Mr. Squawk running right in front of him from a persimmon tree. Before he could get his gun to make dreams a reality he saw old Brer B'ar up at the 'simmon tree. The would be carnivore decided he would go just home and be a vegetarian, an old Indian word for "bad hunter".

Now that the beams are in place for the new Annamoriah bridge it is obvious that there will be a curve in the new bridge that is in a long straight stretch. Apparently the only regular inspector Gene Rader was not advised of the bend in the bridge.

The annual Wirt County Farm Bureau meeting will be held Tuesday, October 18 at 6:30 P. M. at the high school cafeteria in Elizabeth. The farm bureau will furnish ham, turkey and plates, etc. Come, bring a covered dish and have a great evening.

With a big push from the "southern counties" Earl Ray continued the rule of the oligarchy that has controlled West Virginia since 1928. Under their wise administration West Virginia went from having six members in the U. S. House of Representatives to now having three and the understanding that in 9 more years there will be only two House of Representatives members from West Virginia. The Eric Holder U. S. Justice Department also came along with an "October surprise" which sounds so absurd that 8th graders could have come up with a better plot.

Alvin & Nancy Engelke delivered some furniture to Anna Yates in Virginia before Adam came home from the scenic sands of Kuwait. She was in Georgetown the other day picking up some D. C. cupcakes (as advertised on tee vee) for Adam. He is to, after two weeks go to the beautiful scenic mountains of friendly Afghanistan for a few months. One recommendation after the move: don't rent from U-Haul if you have a time frame.

Leaves up in the mountains are turning but locally it could be that this will be another drab fall without bright colors. With a dry spell, followed by a protracted rainy time the leaves may not do so well although some sumac is bright red & the paw paw leaves are yellow.

Bambi decided horseradish leaves are tasty. The DNR's critters should be reminded that ground horse radish is tasty when served on fried venison, as well as on ham.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil rose 39 cents to $78.53/bbl. Some feel that as the world economic malaise gets worse the world price will fall to $11 with the US price being in the $15 range. Obviously plans are in place to worsen the economic situation both domestically and globally. The well organized demonstration that started in New York by paid protesters is scheduled to continue and "spontaneously" spread. The Big Eared One's governor buddy in North Carolina has already said that the 2012 elections should be cancelled. Many have warned that one should have on hand food that will keep as well as plenty of ammo to ward off marauding bands of those who would take from those who work for those who choose not to.
