Delmas Franklin Sprouse, 68 - Parkersburg

Delmas Franklin Sprouse age 68 of Parkersburg, West Virginia, departed this life at 2:26 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2011 in St. Joseph Hospital (Parkersburg) following a one week illness.

Born February 21, 1943 at Letter Gap (Gilmer County) son of the late Lytle and Hazel Grimes Sprouse.

Delmas retired from Walker Steel (Parkersburg) and was a former employee of the Wood County Board of Education. He was baptized into the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church (Normantown WV) on July 8 1956, where he was presently a member at his death. Delmas loved the lord, his church, his family and his fellowman. He was jovial and caring. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, playing his guitar and studying God's word.

He is survived by several sisters and brothers, Elaine (Roy) Morris, Janice Hendershot, Carol Harper, Verle Sprouse, Corlis (Randy) Stump all of Normantown WV, Betty Jenkins of Glenville WV, Eileen (Mike) Richardson of Spencer WV, Janette (Dave)Ramezan of Sand Fork WV, Sharon (Doyle) Zirkle of Mabie WV, Stephen (Carol) Sprouse, Kenneth Sprouse and Colin Sprouse all of Normantown WV; numerous nieces, nephews, grand and great nieces and nephews.

He was formerly married to Earnestine Moss Sprouse who also survives.

Preceding Delmas in death was his son Joseph Stanley Sprouse; brothers Roger Lytle Sprouse and infant brother Calvin Len Sprouse; brothers-in-Law Willard Hendershot, Glen Jenkins and Sam Harper; 2 nephews, Scott Morris and Kennard Jenkins; and great grand niece Alece Tatman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, October 2, 2011 at the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church, Normantown WV, with Rev. Roger Stewart and Rev. Mike Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery in Lockney WV (Middle Run).

Friends may call 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. (Glenville WV.) & one hour prior to services at the church.

Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family of Delmas F. Sprouse with arrangements.
