ROANE MURDER TRIAL DELAYED IN KENNETH BOGGS CASE - Prosecutor Says There's New Developments

(09/17/2011)
The Roane County murder trial for Greg D. Leach, 21, of Letart, has been postponed.

Leach was set to go on trial Tuesday for the brutal murder of 44-year-old Kenneth Boggs of Spencer.

Leach is charged with first-degree murder and first-degree sexual assault during the all-night beating of Bogg's in his apartment in January, 2010.

Spencer Newspapers is reporting that Roane County Prosecutor Josh Downey is saying that there are new developments in the case, developments that he can not yet disclose.

Witnesses at the apartment where Leach was celebrating his birthday party gave statements about the beating, the grand jury indictment says Boggs was "physically helpless."

The criminal complaint says Leach sodomized Boggs with a soft drink bottle.

The case has been continued to November 14.
