YOUTH WITH CALHOUN CONNECTIONS RECEIVES PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

Cailee Calabrese, daughter of Dr. Carmen and Kimberly Calabrese of Lumberton, NC recently received the Presidential Gold Level Volunteer Award. She was presented with pins, a certificate and letter from the President.

Her mother, the former Kimberly Wayne is a graduate of Calhoun High School, her grandparents, Doris and Ray Wayne now reside in Elizabeth.

Some of the organizations that Cailee volunteers with are nursing homes, Give 2 the Troops, American Red Cross, March of Dimes, Communities in Schools, Operation Home front, Adopt a Military Family at Christmas, Cailee and her friend Alina made and distributed 600 Easter bags and cards to the military families at Fort Bragg this past April, one of her proudest accomplishments is her own organization Movies for Military® in Cailee's words "she collects DVDs to give a gift back for protecting us."

Cailee who has volunteered over 100 hours over the past 12 months hopes that people can see that even the youngest of age can make a difference and be a positive role model for others.

Cailee was also recently crowned National American Miss Jr. Preteen for North Carolina out of 102 contestants. National American Miss Motto is "Today's Girls and Tomorrow's Leaders. She will represent North Carolina in Anaheim, California in November.
