STUMPTOWN MAN GRADUATES BASIC COMBAT TRAINING

PFC Randall Scott Roberts, son of Michael and Julie Roberts of Stumptown WV, graduated Basic Combat Training from the U.S. Army's Fort Jackson, SC on August 18, 2011. He is currently a senior at West Virginia Wesleyan College, majoring in Engineering. Scott is a South Harrison High School graduate.

During the ten weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received vigorous physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and tactical combat training.

Scott was a member of 3-60 Infantry Regiment, Delta Company, 1st Platoon. His Company was awarded the Physical Fitness Banner. 1st Platoon earned Honor Platoon, Fit to Win, the highest scores for the CLS Exam, and Rifle Marksmanship.

PFC Roberts currently serves with the U.S. Army National Guard in Spencer and plans to attend Officer Candidate School.
