EYES WILL BE UPON YOU IN SPENCER - City Expanding Surveillance Cameras

Eyes will be upon citizens and visitors in the City of Spencer, with the addition of surveillance cameras, bringing the total to 19. Spencer Mayor Terry Williams told Spencer newspapers, "It's a great step in the right direction," saying the cameras cover about 90 percent of the Main Street area, including public buildings. Monitors have been installed at Roane's 911 Center, with the local police department able to log-on a secure Internet site, with the ability to zoom onto license plates. Most American cities have expanded their TV surveillance monitoring systems.
