HUNTER EDUCATION COURSE STARTS TODAY

(09/30/2011)
The WV Division of Natural Resources will hold a Hunter Education Course at the Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center on today from 6 to 10 p.m. and October 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is a 10 hour course and students must attend both days (all sessions) to be certified.

In 1994 West Virginia passed legislation that requires any parson born on or after January 1, 1975 to present proof of certification from an approved Hunter Education course to the license agent every time a hunting license is purchased.

The course is open to the public and free of charge. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult. Students must be 10 years of age to receive permanent certification. Students who are 8 and 9 years of age will receive temporary certification.

Class size is limited so pre-registration is required. If you would like to register or need additional information please contact the WV DNR District VI office at 304-420-4550 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
