3.1 QUAKE STRIKES NEAR MARIETTA, OHIO

A minor earthquake with an epicenter nine miles east of Marietta, Ohio (near Reno OH, St. Marys WV) hit early yesterday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was a 3.1 magnitude.

It struck at 5:35 a.m. and was 3.1 miles below the surface.

The quake was felt in Marietta, Reno, New Matamoras and in Waverly, WV.

Wednesday morning's earthquake is in the same general area that another quake occurred back in October 2010.

No injuries or damage has been reported.

Last week a 5.8 quake hit Virginia, the effect felt up and down the eastern seaboard.
