54TH MT. ZION OX ROAST TODAY - Mouth-Waterin' Event Supports Park

(08/24/2013)

Folks enjoying pit-roasted "ox" at Mt. Zion Community Park

The Mt. Zion Ox Roast is having its 54th year today.

Thousands have come over the years to enjoy the mouth-watering "ox" slow cooked in a pit, just a sandwich or a full meal with lots of country fixins.

The long-time fundraiser for the community park is pulled off with some dutiful volunteers.

At one time the roast attracted huge numbers, hundreds upon hundreds of community members and returnees to the county.

But folks who want a really good treat still show up and support the community park.

Serving is from 11 am to 5pm. A delicious meal of pit roasted Angus beef sandwich, cole slaw, baked beans, tomato, cake and drink is $7. Individual sandwich $4.

Country Fair with 4-H project exhibits & produce, pies, canned goods, & crafts.

Music will be provided by the David Bowen Family.

There will be an auction at 5 p.m.
