FIVE FORKS MAN CHARGED FOR ALLEGED METH PRODUCTION

(08/04/2011)
WV State Police have arrested a Five Forks man, charging him with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine meth lab.

Steven Beecher, 59, was charged following a traffic stop by Trooper J. E. Kincaid, the complaint saying Beecher was initially stopped for an expired inspection sticker.

The criminal complaint says Trooper Kincaid asked for permission to inspect Beecher's vehicle, obtaining consent.

The officer says he "discovered a Gatorade jug located in the trunk...containing a white paste."

Kincaid said his experience indicated the jug appeared to contain white paste commonly used in the "shake and bake" method of making methamphetamine, according to the complaint.

Kincaid says he seized the Gatorade jug and has sent it to the WV State Police Lab for identification.

Officers obtained a search warrant for Beecher's residence, after which he was cited for the possession of less than 15 grams of marijuana.

Beecher was released on bond.
