SUTTON MAN ASSAULTS STATE TROOPER DURING CHILD REMOVAL OPERATION

A Braxton County man is in Central Regional Jail and a WV State Trooper is recovering, following an incident Monday evening related to the removal of a child from a residence. John Carroll Sr., 49 (pictured left) of Sutton, has been charged with malicious assault on an officer. The trooper and a DHHR-CPS worker were trying to remove a child from a home. When they pulled into the driveway, Carroll allegedly drove his truck directly into the trooper's car. The trooper was taken to Braxton Memorial Hospital and was reportedly treated for minor injuries. Carroll was reportedly physically and verbally abusive to several firefighters and other officers at the scene. He was taken to Central Regional Jail, where he's being held on a $275,000.00 bond.
