Okey "Denzil" Richard, 83 - formerly of Munday

Okey "Denzil" Richard, 83, passed away July 19, 2011.

He was born in Akron, Ohio the son of the late Okey and Edna Pepper Richard.

He was a 1946 graduate of Wirt County High School and served in the US Army 11th Airborne Paratroopers Division and later in the US Air Force. He received the Man of the Month achievement award. He was a long time resident of Wirt County in the village of Munday. In his youth he was an active member in the Evangelical Church. In 1969 he became a member of the Masonic Lodge 132 AF & AM of Burning Springs and was a Past Master.

He is survived by, 1 brother, Lester (Vita) Richard of New Albany IN; 2 sisters, Louise (Matthews) Deweese and Lyla (Joe) Kopshina of Nutter Fort WV. He was very fond of his 3 nieces and 6 nephews and also the Toney family.

He moved to the Heartland of Clarksburg WV two years ago, where he made many close friends and a special lady friend Sondra.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 brother, Arlis and his wife Karen Richard.

Services will be Thursday, July 21 at 1:00 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with Pastor John Kopshina officiating. He will be laid to rest at Wolverton Cemetery at Munday WV with Masonic graveside rites by Burning Springs Lodge 132.

Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of the services at the funeral home.
