SUNDAY COOKOUT WILL BENEFIT INJURED MARINE - Caleb Childers Of Elizabeth Wounded In Afghanistan

Caleb N. Childers of Elizabeth lost his left leg from the knee down on June 30 in Afghanistan when an improvised explosive device on a staircase was triggered. A cookout fundraiser for Childers and his family is planned for Sunday, July 24 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Elizabeth-Wirt Volunteer Fire Department. The hamburgers, hot dogs and sides will be $6 per plate. The event will include door prizes, a bake sale, silent auction and live entertainment, including, Zac Windland from South of The River Band, Jackie Holt, John and Charlie Jones of Calhoun County, Lane Boyce and more.
