Storms rolled over the village of Hur, storm clouds with squiggles
coming down from clouds would likely excite flatlanders

Thunderstorms swept through the area Monday evening, downing trees and causing power outages. County fire departments responded to several trees down across roadways.

Allegheny Power reported 144 customers without power Monday night in Calhoun. In Ritchie 1297; Roane 151; Wirt 503; Gilmer 225; Braxton 646.

Storms knocked out electricity to nearly 45,000 customers total in West Virginia.

Among the hardest-hit areas were Clarksburg, Fairmont, Parkersburg, Shinnston and Weston.
