A Henry's Fork family reported hearing a screaming, hysterical young female on a heavily wooded hillside on lower Henry's Fork.

The Spencer-Roane Volunteer Fire Department responded at 8:45 p.m. to a search and rescue call to the area located in Roane County near the Calhoun line.

A Henry's Fork man attempted to make contact with the female, wading across Henry's Fork into the dense, steep wooded area.

He attempted to locate her, saying she sometimes responded to his voice as she kept screaming she was lost.

"It's an area that few people venture into," he said.

Eventually, there was no sound from her location.

Firemen investigating discovered the girl.
