GRANTSVILLE WILL CANVASS TOWN ELECTION RESULTS TODAY - Garretson Defeated Petrosky By Two Votes In Mayor's Race

Grantsville has a new mayor, Curtis Garretson, barely.

Garretson defeated Robert Petrosky by two votes, according to the unofficial results. Garretson received 46 votes and Petrosky received 44.

The town will canvass the election today, including a review of any challenged ballots, which could change the outcome.

After last Tuesday's election, incumbent Gary Knight, who has served as the town's mayor for several terms, received 31 votes to come in third. Mayoral candidate Helen Jordan garnered 10.

Elected to town council: Erin Barnhart, 79; Loretta Stevens, 64; Andrew Smith, 61; Dorothy McCauley, 60; and Katheryn Kerby, 52.

Barbara Duskey was the only candidate for town recorder. She received 71 votes, and Criss Ferrebee received 13 write-in votes.

Duskey told the Herald that she will not be filling the recorder position, saying "I had looked forward to helping the town, but I'm going to decline because of family health problems."

The council will be seeking someone to fill the slot.
