WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Two-Year-Old Kills Self With Parents Gun

(05/24/2011)
CHILD DIES, GUNSHOT WOUND TO HEAD - WSAZ-TV, a station that covers the Huntington-Ashland area, says a 2-year-old girl has died after being shot in the face.

It happened in the Ashland Town Center parking lot.

Police are saying the girl's parent was putting another child in the car when the parent heard a pop sound.

WSAZ-TV says when the parent looked, they saw the little girl slumped over in the passenger seat, bleeding.

The parent, according to authorities, had left a loaded gun in the car.

The 2-year-old picked-up the gun and accidentally shot herself in the face.

MAN TRIES TO STABS NIECE - A St. Albans man is in jail after he allegedly tried to stab his niece with a knife.

Police say Edward Dwayne Booker, 54, got into an argument with family members and started waving a knife around.

Booker then chased his niece, Ashley Booker, 20, with the knife and had her by the hair when the girl's brother intervened and tried to take the knife away, police said.

Edward Booker was reportedly wounded in the hand during the struggle.

"They were fighting over the knife and he got cut," police said.

Booker was charged with domestic battery and brandishing a weapon.
